Emergency closure of U.S. 218 to begin at approximately 6 p.m. tonight AMES, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) will close southbound U.S. 218 at milepost 186.5 near the Waterloo Airport at approximately 6 p.m. tonight. The closure is expected to last up to three hours. Traffic will be detoured along a designated route. The closure is necessary to remove a sign truss damaged by a semi crash earlier today. #
