The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of information collected on our Web site.

Access to personally-identifiable information in public records at state and local levels of government in Iowa is controlled primarily by Chapter 22 of the Code of Iowa, the law on Examination of Public Records (Open Records).

Various commercial Web sites may be links from our site. These private sector sites are not subject to Chapter 22 of the Code of Iowa, also known as the Iowa Fair Information Practices Act. Visitors to those sites may wish to check the privacy statements of the sites, and be cautious about providing personally-identifiable information.
